Quadrupoles
These need a bit more work . . .
-

The 3-D far field radiation pattern, |pressure|,
of a longitudinal
quadrupole. Here the quadrupole is aligned along the
z axis, and the radiation pattern is proportional
to (Cos[theta])^2
where the angle theta is measured down from the
z axis. Sometimes longitudinal quadrupoles are called
axial quadrupoles.
-

The 3-D far field radiation pattern, |pressure|,
of a lateral
quadrupole. Here the quadrupole is aligned in
the x-y plane,
and the radiation pattern is proportional
to Cos[phi]*Sin[phi]*(Sin[theta])^2
where the angle theta is measured down from the
z axis, and the angle phi is measured around the z axis
from the x axis. Sometimes lateral quadrupoles are
called tesseral quadrupoles.
