Current Status:

Ph.D. in Acoustics from Penn State University.

Background:

I grew up in Flint, Michigan, and graduated from Flint Carman High School back in 1986. My next move was to East Lansing, Michigan, where I attended Michigan State University and graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (ME Honors Program) in June, 1991. During my undergraduate education, I was a coop student/engineer at the AC Rochester Division of General Motors (now the Delphi Automotive Systems Corporation). That is where I meet my wonderful wife, Laura. We were married May 18, 1991.

After graduation, we both started working full time as Project Engineers at GM. I worked for three years in exhaust systems analysis and development, specifically in the area of noise and vibration control, and flow restriction. That is where I became interested in acoustics, which led me to my graduate studies at Penn State beginning August 1994. This is possible through a 3-year Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship (1994-97), administrated through the U.S. Department of Transportation. From Fall 1997 to Summer 1999 I was funded by The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company .

I graduated with my Ph.D. in Acoustics on August 7, 1999. I am now an acoustics specialist for Lucent Technologies working in the development and application of hands-free solutions for cellular phones in automobiles.
